Weekly Round-up! |
||||||
Good evening Resident,
As New Year approaches, here is your final weekly update of 2025!
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – Police made a number of arrests across the area, including one for racially aggravated public order where the offender was subsequently sectioned under the Mental Health Act, and a male arrested for rape after self-presenting at Wolverhampton Central Police Station. Officers also dealt with three arrests for shop theft, a further arrest for racially aggravated public order, and three males arrested by the Guardian Task Force for possession of offensive weapons after intelligence led officers to search a vehicle and its occupants, resulting in the discovery of two lock knives, with the vehicle subsequently recovered. In addition, one arrest was made for failing to appear at court, a male was detained and sectioned under the Mental Health Act following an attempt to end his own life, and two juveniles were arrested for robbery after a short foot chase.
Community Engagement – The mounted Police unit visited the city centre on Saturday before heading out on patrol with Team 3, drawing lots of attention from passers-by. Members of the public were delighted to see the horses up close, stopping to chat with officers, take photos, and ask questions about the role of the mounted unit. It was a great opportunity for the police to connect with the community while maintaining a visible and reassuring presence in the city.
Guardian Patrols – Guardian patrols proved beneficial this week with not only 3 males being arrested as detailed above but City Centre PCSOs also recovered a 3 inch kitchen knife from St Peters Gardens. The knife was subsequently brought back into Central Police Station and booked into our property stores. Friday also saw an increase in the deterrence of shoplifters due to a very busy shopping day within the Mander and Wulfrun Centres by our officers.
Night-Time Economy – A fairly quiet NTE this time around which surprised everyone due to the time of year. The only thing of note was the recovery of a large Zombie Knife from Broad Street car park, that's another knife off the streets!
In Other News - A scheduled protest outside Wolverhampton Magistrates court proved to be unsuccessful with nobody in attendance. Don't forget to take a look at our ‘Year in the Community’ video montage on Twitter. Click Here! Give us a Follow and a Re-Tweet!
